New Jersey League of Community Bankers and New Jersey Bankers Association
Gardner Integration Group worked with these New Jersey organizations to deliver a one -day seminar on initiating projects. The seminar focused on the early stages of a project, typically the most difficult for many organizations. Topics included: structuring the project kick-off; aligning project stakeholders, properly assessing risk, mana\ging meetings and developing comprehensive business requirements. The session was attended by representatives from 13 New Jersey community and commercial banks. Attendees were quite satisfied, as noted in their responses -- "very informative with realistic objectives; kept the group motivated for the length of the seminar"; "the information was very helpful"; "points were well-covered, brought real-life situations into focus; enough time for individual questions". Follow-on sessions now being planned for the organization will address topics that range from managing risk in projects and turning business requirements into the real thing, to project communications and conducting a post-implementation review.

Bankers' Forum

Gardner Integration Group teams with the Massachusetts Bankers Association to present a one-day forum on project management. The program addressed the positive impact of rigorous project management on the work environment, from the perspective of business sponsorship and project leadership. The forum was attended by 50 participants, representing 31 banks from the Boston area. Attendees' responses indicated that the forum was successful -- "one of the better programs I have attended"; "I really feel I can begin using what I learned right away"; "presentation and preparation were excellent"; "I found the program to be very timely and well prepared - I will actually use the information!"

Masters Level Professorships 
Gardner Integration Group President, Donald Gardner is currently Assistant Adjunct Professor for Project Management, MBA Program, Long Island University, Westchester Campus.

 

Donald Gardner has served as an affiliate professor at the Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey, in their project management program. During his tenure, Gardner assisted in developing the program foundation for Stevens' Masters of Science offering in Project Management.

Successful Distance Learning Program Launched 
As a member of the Continuing Studies Faculty at Villanova University, Gardner worked as part of a team, in the creation, production and delivery of a 16-hour distance learning professional certification course on project management. Gardner personally provides four of the 16 hours of instruction. The course was successfully launched in 2003 and continues to be offered. Course access at www.villanovau.com/

Newtown Square, PA USA 
Donald Gardner, PMP, Named PMI 2002 Outstanding Specific Interest Group (SIG) Chair, for his service to the PMI Financ ial Services SIG in 2001. This award recognizes and honors a SIG Chair for the previous year who has effectively guided his or her component's operation, resulting in significant advances or achievements, furthering the objectives of PMI.

PMP Certification 
Donald Gardner was awarded PMI's Professional Project Manager (PMP) certification in 2001. Gardner has been an active member of PMI and the PMI Financial Services SIG since 1997. He served as Vice Chair of the SIG for two years, prior to becoming Chair from 2000-2002. He has also served as planning committee chair for the November 2001 Leadership Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee USA and as a member of the Assembly of SIG Chairs (ASC) Nominating Committee, the PMI Students in Project Management SIG; and the PMI New York City Chapter. The PMI 2002 Outstanding Specific Interest Group Chair Award was presented to Gardner at the Leadership Awards Ceremony in conjunction with PMI 2002, PMI's Annual Seminars and Symposium on 4 October 2002.
